Ontario citizens fighting to protect environment, communities from wind power push: WCO

More than one ‘tough guy’ needed to restore democracy in Ontario, Wind Concerns Ontario president says. We all need to be in this fight.

Responding to an opinion by farmer Ian Cummings in the April edition of Farmers Forum, Wind Concerns Ontario president Jane Wilson wrote:

We know that many citizens of Ontario are working hard to protect their communities, their families and yes, the environment from this government’s unfounded and unnecessary push for wind power projects in rural/small town Ontario.

Many people are spending hundreds of thousands of after-tax dollars to appeal wind power project approvals where there will be harm to the environment and risk to human health.

Mr. Cumming spins a colourful story but to suggest all that’s needed is a local tough-guy character to scare the wind power developers out of town is uninformed, unrealistic and frankly insulting to your readers and the citizens of Ontario.

What we have are huge, multi-national, multi-billion-dollar corporations which feel entitled by the current provincial government to bully their way into our communities.

There are no single heroes to chase them out of town: it takes all of us to insist on a return to democracy in Ontario.

Jane Wilson

President, Wind Concerns Ontario

Ottawa

Farmer Ian Cummings may have the right attitude about wind turbines and slick Wind Dicks, but his bravado is off the mark.
When he says “The province also didn’t announce projects for another area: the Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington riding of Progressive Conservative MPP Randy Hillier”, he clearly hasn’t had his head out of his ass long enough to know that 300 or so IWTs were proposed for Randy Hillier’s riding, that includes Addington Highlands and North Frontenac, last year. Mr. Hillier only acted on this when harangued by BEARAT, North Frontenac Mayor Ron Higgins, myself and others, and if I must say, has done a splendid job on this file thus far.
Don’t know why WCO didn’t pick up on this point.
Nope, the last thing we need is tough guys shootin’ their mouth off when they haven’t a clue as to what the hell is goin’ on.

‘Ocotillo Wind falls short of capacity forecast for third straight year’
This same company is doing business in Ontario but in partnership with another company.
And there is no way to find out what the terms of the contracts are. Wonder why?
Also note the news item about the San Onofre Nuclear power plant settlement and the politics that go with it. Nothing going on in California? And Ontario has signed a cap-and-trade deal with California.

The people of Canada and the U.S. have enjoyed the abundance of North America so they couldn’t be sold on European style ideas. And they had/have self-government.
Now this kind of thing has appeared here and might be put over on the people.

We need a MASSIVE walk on Queen’s Park………….people from every part of the Province. Maybe it would wake up the MSM and the weak, egocentric MPs who are too stupid to speak up against their own party.

Forget queens park folks they just laugh at all of us….. if you really want to get your point across you need to shut down a little place called downtown toranta!!!! 75 municipalities or more x 2 or more busses each x 50 people each bus is a lot of peoples! !!! Right in the queen bees hive…. Don Valley West and everything south to the Queen’s Quay …. if Ole Katty Wynnd doesn’t notice that maybe alot of her supporters might get the message that there is a REAL PROBLEM BREWING IN RURAL ONTARIO!!!!
