Wind Concerns Ontario has prepared a brochure on the question of health impacts from the noise and sound emissions from utility-scale or large-scale wind turbines used to generate power.
Scientific knowledge of the emissions from these turbines is advancing rapidly, the coalition of community groups and individuals says; it is now time for the wind industry to stop using outdated studies like the Chief Medical Officer of Health’s 2010 report to deny the adverse health impacts that occur as a result of exposure to wind turbines.
“The Health Canada study is being used in Open Houses for wind farm proposals throughout Ontario right now as developers try to assure communities there are no health impacts from their power developments,” says Jane Wilson, president, Wind Concerns Ontario. “The truth is, the Health Canada study did report a significant response relationship between wind turbine noise and high annoyance–annoyance meaning stress or distress, which is an adverse effect in itself.”
These and other studies mean that the Ontario setback of 550 metres is not adequate to protect health, and neither is the regulated noise level of 40 dBA.
“It’s time to act to protect health in Ontario,” Wilson said.

I’ve been reporting noise to the MOE at their Spill Centre hotline and currently 3 people with the MOE are coming to test for audible sound from the array of turbines in a complex configuration surrounding my neighbourhood. Their office is 2 hours away so they have asked for a report of the sounds along with a copy of the weather data at the time of the report.
I’ve also requested that the local Health Unit attain proper equipment to measure infrasound radiation in my neighbourhood. I made this request months ago and I was told that Huron County does not have equipment to test for infrasound radiation, so they passed the request along to the provincial Health Unit. Nothing has happened yet. I have received no communication from the provincial office on this matter.
In addition to these efforts I’ve contacted the office of the MOE that deals with the policy which informed the GEA compliance data which K2 Wind has used in siting complex configurations of turbines around homes and barns. I made the request to see the precise study material used to ascertain the safety and security of all who might be exposed to both amplified resonance of audible sound under certain windspeed and atmospheric conditions as well as infrasound radiation amplification due to the resonance that occurs when turbines that surround a home interact with one another. To date, I have not received this information, but I’m told that someone is preparing a response to my request.
I’m encouraging all victims to do the same.
We deserve to know that our homes are safe.
We did not consent to being subjects of an experiment.

Good luck with that Sommer. You are about 7 years behind the Clear Creek people. Go back and read archived information from the former Ontario Wind Concerns site. Dress rehersal for this gig was long ago. You are spinning your wheels. I would think the MOE and wind industry has perfected a response to your concerns, which in laymans terms are “too bad so sad.”
You have a well thought logical approach you would think would provide accurate results. You would expect our government would act accordingly in the interest of the people of Ontario. Corruption is rampant in the big house. The wind companies are jacking the turbines in fast and dirty, with the Liberal blessing.

I fully understand your response to me Tracy.
We’re experiencing this reality right now and our tactics are the only proactivity that as you said feels logical. Some significant developments have taken place in the past 7 years. Surely you would agree.
At the very least, we will have documented our pleas to those responsible. We will have copies of their responses or lack thereof for further legal action.
What these wind companies and this government want is for all of us to throw up our hands and walk away from our homes and let them get away with it. We simply can’t let that happen.
