Safety expert says wind power developer’s comparison to Pincher Creek Alberta “not valid”—turbines there are half the size proposed for Collingwood area

An aviation safety expert says the location of wind turbines as proposed by WPD Canada would be “unwise.”
Charles Cormier also told an Environmental review Tribunal hearing on an appeal of the province’s approval of a renewable energy application (REA) for the Fairview Wind project that the eight turbines could have a negative impact on growth at the Collingwood Regional Airport.
Collingwood, Clearview Township and Simcoe County have joined Kevin Elwood, Preserve Clearview, and John Wiggins in appealing the approval by the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC).
“It’s a growing airport, a very busy airport,” Cormier told the tribunal during four hours of testimony.
Cormier has reviewed the turbine issue several times on behalf of the Collingwood Regional Airport, and rebutted the opinion of experts hired by WPD Canada that the turbines would have a negligible effect on aircraft movements.

If the judgement on this hearing is in favour of the wind company we’ll know ‘beyond a shadow of doubt’ that corporations own rural Ontario and that this government is made up of corporate puppets.

Another concern is that fact that many of these power developments are foreign-owned and the nature of the wind power leases could mean the ownership of property in Ontario is affected. How much land do Samsung, WPD, Invenergy, and the others now “own”?

You actually think that the “tribunal” will make a difference. … the liberals do this so you think you had some input….. then they trample you and your rights… politically speaking it’s always correct to let the consituants be heard… thank you for your input folks …. now get the $#^&(€% outa our way…..

This appeal is different in several ways: first, the approval was granted at literally the eleventh hour—the province appeared to have some concerns about the aviation safety aspect (funny, now they are using taxpayer dollars to defend against that claim) but caved eventually when the very litigious, foreign power company WPD threatened legal action to force the province to grant the appeal. Second, this is the first appeal in which the numerous appellants include three municipalities.

Again like in Dutton Dunwich there was more than enough public input and it didn’t even matter… remember killowatt Bob… “it would be virtually impossible for a municipality to be awarded a contract without municipal support. .. leaseholders of the IWT aren’t even getting the full amount they signed contracts for … they cut 3 to 4 cents /kwh off what they initially initially signed for … they’re probably too proud or scared to put up a no fight….
if you signed a contract with me to sell you xxx for $100.00 and you brought me $75.00 and said too bad…… you’d walk away holding yer eye!!!!
LEASEHOLDERS …. it’s never too late to reject your contract as null and void due to “breach of contract”
