Wind farm appeal decisions could take months

Citizens’ groups say onus is on developers to prove no harm; legislation constructed otherwise

Appeal Ruling Months Away

Anti-wind turbine groups are patiently awaiting a ruling by the Ontario Divisional Court on Suncor and Nextera’s Cedar Point Wind Power Project.
Last week, court heard an appeal on the approval of 46 turbines in Plympton-Wyoming. That ruling could take upwards of a few months to be handed down.
The approval of the project was initially granted by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and upheld by the Environmental Review Tribunal (ERT).
Anti-turbine groups argued the developers didn’t provide evidence to the ERT that the turbines would not cause adverse health effects.
The turbine groups say the onus should be on residents to prove they will be harmed.
It’s too early to tell what impacts a successful appeal would have.
In the future, he says it would be beneficial for the government to engage in an inclusive discussion with community members before any projects are approved.

What's your reaction?

Onus on residents to prove they will be harmed? What kind of doublespeak is this? How can the residents prove they will be harmed until the turbines are in place? It is pretty obvious that The Government that is SUPPOSED to look after our interests either has forgotten why they are there or never did know. It is also obvious that evidence from other places is ignored so how does anyone show that they will or even might be harmed? Bernie

Even while residents are being harmed and people are informing all who are responsible about their direct experiences with loss of sleep, headaches, nausea, dizziness, tinnitus, sensations of vibration throughout their bodies, nosebleeds, mood swings etc. etc. this government has not responded by turning off the turbines. In my lifetime I have never seen a situation like this in Ontario….so disillusioning.
Now we finally have an investigation initiated in Ontario to document another year of this harm for participants and then it will take even longer to do acoustical assessments and some sort of medical assessments and still this process will not prove a causal link between turbines and adverse health impacts!

Months???? This should be priority. Where is the health department? These people should be fired. People are being seriously harmed and could possibly die.
HELLO PEOPLE…THE NEGATIVE HEALTH IMPACT ftom exposure to infrasound IS LEGITIMATE TRUTH.
May I remind you that death is forever and, at this rate, it is only a matter of time before it WILL EFFECT YOU or a loved one.
Isn’t it amazing that there is no turbine construction threatening the communities of Kathleen Wynne or Justin Trudeau. I wonder if they ever had a neighbor from hell? I’m not referring to a turbine….
For people in positions as Wynne and Trudeau, to do nothing – when knowingly, they have been informed and are well aware that living too close to an industrial wind turbine causes severe health effects and possibly death; they are guilty of not providing the people of Ontario with due diligence. They must listen to each and everyone of us. They cannot be selective and must not remain ignorant to this ongoing tragedy to the people of rural Ontario. Ignorance is inexcusable.
When would be a good time to knock on their doors and bring a reminder to them about real life in rural Ontario?
When does government go on hiatus for summer?

It sure is Sommer. It literally makes me sick knowing that people who are living close to iwts are experiencing a constant physical and psychological assault comparable to torture.
Thinking about this makes me as sick as I feel when I hear that another hostage has been beheaded. Dammit dammit dammit.
Where is our Premiere? Where is that great humanitarian JT..
