It’s one thing to read about the destruction and deforestation that comes with construction of an industrial wind power project—it’s another to actually SEE it.
A new film, Green Madness, follows the construction and massive impact on the environment as the Cassadaga wind power project is built in upstate New York.
The images of woodlands being leveled for roads and turbine bases are heartbreaking. Added to this is a stirring narrative which details the facts about wind power: horrendous environmental impacts for little benefit, destruction of wildlife habitat and removal of good farmland, all the while ruining the social fabric of small rural communities.
The film also makes clear that wind power offers no benefit to the local communities forced to host the huge power plants. “Wind power is a charade sponsored by investment banks…money is being made but not by the little guy,” is one quote.
The film is just over 20 minutes long and well, well worth a watch. Timely viewing with the IESO Request For Proposals coming soon to Ontario.
