The anti-nuclear (and anti-natural gas) cabal is punching out messages this week against the Ontario government’s aggressive nuclear power strategy.
Ontario energy minister Stephen Lecce responded during a radio interview on Ottawa’s CFRA, yesterday.
He spoke about nuclear power as cost-effective, highly regulated, and clean. For the people who can’t “get there” on nuclear, he said, “I challenge anyone to find another reliable source of power that is Canadian made, like CANDU is. Wind and solar are part-time power, made in China.”

The Ontario Clean Air Alliance or OCAA is still shoving its pro-wind agenda forward, including its preposterous plan to cover the Great Lakes with wind turbines. Meanwhile, the group congratulated the City of Toronto on relaxing regulations to allow more heat pumps and solar in that city — no mention of giant, noisy, industrial wind turbines. Let the rural citizens put up with noise pollution.
Stephen Lecce has lashed out before on statements made by pro-wind, political agents like the OCAA, Environmental Defence and others.
The IESO has yet to release its “Window 2” of the Long-Term-2 Request For Proposals.
One would think that with the energy minister’s clear cut stance on unreliable “part-time” wind, maybe no one will bother submitting, but those power contracts are still just too juicy to pass by.
