Are wind power operators profiling people who complain?

March 15, 2021
Are wind power operators profiling people who call them to complain about noise or other effects from wind turbine operations?
In response to a request under the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act, Wind Concerns Ontario received what appears to be internal documents used by Suncor in 2016, related to the company’s Adelaide wind power project.
On the forms is the guide to staff to “indicate if the individual is a member of a larger stakeholder group”.
Wind Concerns Ontario is a community group coalition with dozens of community groups throughout the province, most of which actively criticized the imposition of grid-scale wind power facilities on their communities. Many also launched legal appeals before various tribunals and in court.
Was this question meant to intimidate people exercising their rights to complain under the government compliance process?
We sent an email to Suncor, in specific Jason Weir, the staff member who is named on the reports we received, but have had no response. Mr Weir has been listed as Site Supervisor and “Owners’ Representative” in the past, according to a search on his name.
Again these were internal forms for use by staff to guide information gathering. Other questions include asking about details of the complaint, wind direction, etc.

The answer to your question is, no.
Most gathering is done to prepare a dossier for later use if required. You must expect to be a target when you engage a competitor. Most average citizens in Canada have never been charged, arrested or fingerprinted so threatening tactics by security is commonly used as a deterrent that works well if prolonged.
I have witnessed this abuse cause many health effects.
It is not illegal only immoral to those with any amount of decency. You mentioned a written company form from 2016. During 2016 photos of most of the residents in Port Elgin Ontario also accompanied their profiles. These types of portfolios are not created to intimidate they are arranged to incriminate.
So is my reason, NO, to your querry!
I know how lawyers charge, and, I know how trouble-makers are charged.
The entire wind industry has been developed on the assumption that most politicians cannot determine truth from fiction.
    Now.
I predict the wind industry will begin to decline rapidly in about 5 years due to the lack of softwood for the blades as the clearcutting in the Amazon rainforest reaches its limit. The light pliable wood burns like paper and warps if unevenly heated. But I guess everyone in Texas knew that! Up to 50KW to heat each turbine, I guess everyone knew that too!

Thank you for this insight, Stan.
Are you suggesting that residents who have reported harm directly to the wind industry agents, trying to engage with them to resolve that harm as quickly as possible, are considered ‘competitors’ ?

What a record day for Ontario renewables.
The seven solar farms are out-performing the forty five wind farms by one hundred megawatts. Thirty wind farms getting supplied by solar,,,,until dark.
    Now that’s cool!
The two wind farms at Henvey Inlet are drawing from the only diesel generator that supplies the town. Now what?
    Interesting times!

Wind turbines need to stop due to documented, ongoing, and cumulative health harm from infra sound.
    Please see the following talk,

Despite repeated attempts to contact government, no one has responded to my requests for a meeting with Government.
I note that WCO had meetings with government officials in the past. In addition, recently (Jan and Feb of this year) [redacted] also had two meetings with government officials and has communicated with WCO about this. As far as I know, infra sound was not discussed at any of these meetings. Why is that?

How do you know what was or was not discussed at meetings?

Quoting: “How do you know what was or was not discussed at meetings?”
I don’t know what happened at your meetings. Would you care to tell me?
In particular, when you had meetings and what was presented?
But [redacted] sent Email to you and included me. In those meetings [redacted] did not convey the information about infra sound that I requested him to do.

Dear WCO; Today Mar 20, 2021, I just notice you [redacted] the name of a P. Eng. that I mentioned.
    Why is that?

He was meeting with his own MPP, and others at her invitation. He does not need to be on public display.

So a P.Eng, working on wind turbines, claiming to be working to protect the citizens of Ontario, and whose work you have featured about on this very site. We are expected to keep this meeting private? As if it never happened?
Also, as WCO is claiming to represent the citizens of Ontario, would you please disclose the dates you have met with government officials. Or is this “private” too?

There is an interesting article circulating somewhere at the moment, that says people concerned about the impact of industrial-scale wind turbines, need to work TOGETHER to present the facts to others and to government. Chasing down a person who is doing his best to help people in his community, and working with his own MPP is not helpful. (Yes, we have published his papers as they are public documents.) As to WCO, any time we met with government officials has been publicized on our website, e.g., a meeting years ago with the Environmental Commissioner, and an event we hosted in 2019 at Queen’s Park. COVID has prevented any recent meetings. Let’s focus on action and information, not blame.

            Dear WCO,
“Let’s focus on action and information, not blame.”
This is exactly what I told I told the P.Eng. when we spoke. The problem is that he refused to pass my information along to the government.
It appears that you WCO and a very few other people have had access to our government.
But none has managed to bring the infra sound work to the attention of our government.
As I said my requests have been ignored.
We need to break this log jam and do the right thing. We need to stop industrial wind turbines due to known, ongoing and cumulative health harm from infrasound.
