Wind Concerns Ontario has been urging people experiencing noise, vibration and other effects from being exposed to wind turbine noise emissions to report these to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.
We have just received a letter that underscores the need to continue reporting.
In a letter from the District Manager in Ottawa regarding a wind power project in Eastern Ontario, he writes “… additional complaints in the area were not received by the ministry.”
And, he said, the wind power developer did not hold Community Liaison Committee meetings further than the mandated four events because of a “lack of participation by members of the public.”
While the latter statement is not accurate (the power developer said at its very first meeting that it never intended to hold more than four), the message is clear: no reports of excessive noise to the ministry means NO PROBLEM.
Again, if you have experience with excessive noise, sound pressure, vibration, shadow flicker, or altered well water, please call the MOECC Spills Action Centre at 1-800-268-6060 or, if you have the District Office telephone number and you are calling during business hours, call that.
Be prepared to give your location, any observations about weather, wind speed if you have it (you can get this from your cell phone), and any other observations about what you are experiencing.
Be sure to get an Incident Report number and keep a log of your calls.
If you do nothing, you are one-hundred-percent guaranteed nothing will be done.

We are Sue and Ivan McDonald. We have reported several times to the Ministry of Environment, to our municipality and other organizations. I (Sue) have severe problems with the flicker where I cannot live in my home for long periods. Have had this problem since 2014. Also a year ago our home well and barn well that also services our mobile home went dry, which in over 50+ years had plenty of water. That forced us to spend over $22,000 to hook up to municipal water. We did not report this because since our previous experience with the turbine company and our municipality got us no where.

As a matter of fact, (which there is evidence to prove, if anyone questions) complaints in Huron County which were made in July, were just responded to finally yesterday by the MOECC via email. It can also be proven that other complaints made earlier and throughout the summer have not received any response whatsoever from the MOECC, not even reference numbers!

The unaware general public would think that the MOECC and the Premier are sincerely concerned about the people who are being harmed by turbines. Anyone who cannot see through the disingenuous statements made by Minister Ballard, as he speaks for a ministry he has just been handed, is seriously unaware. When people wait six weeks for a response from an MOECC officer to a noise complaint, one can hardly have confidence in the MOECC complaint process.
Complaints regarding low frequency noise modulations and infrasound and the harm they are causing are completely ignored. The Ministry of Health refuses to enforce the Radiation Emitting Devices Act. Citizens are being forced by this reality to invest thousands of dollars in state of the art equipment to measure inaudible noise impacts on their own.

An investigation into health impacts of wind turbines was initiated in March 2016. (Ontario’s HPPA, Health Protection and Promotion Act). Since then we have had one delay after another, and still no remedy for those living under turbines.
As of Aug 14, 2017, Erica Clark informed me they have heard back University of Waterloo ethics and have submitted another ethics application to address concerns raised. Meanwhile I have been told that all communications of the ethics board, including the names an positions of the applicants, is confidential.
I am asking for transparency, and for immediate action on this urgent health issue.

So here in Ontario we have the Ministry of Environment staying silent. The Ministry of Natural Resources hiding. The MOECC in damage control. The OSPCA watching thousands of birds and wildlife being slaughtered. The Ministry of Transport looking the other way. The people at MPAC are confused.
All these entities have had a part in my crazy hydro cost increases.
Exactly what are we paying them for?
The only way to keep paying them for nothing in a broke province is by tax and rate increases or get rid of them.. and cut our losses.
