Suncor to remove question from wind turbine noise complaint record

March 19, 2021
Wind Concerns Ontario received the news today that the Ministry of Environment, Parks and Conservation (MECP) contacted Suncor, the operator of the Adelaide Wind Farm regarding our concerns about an internal document.
The document, turned over to us in a batch of files requested under Freedom of Information legislation, appears to be an internal record for noise complaints received by Suncor about the wind power facility turbines. The section of the form asked the staff member receiving the complaint to identify whether the person complaining was a “member of a larger stakeholder group.”
WCO was concerned that this question is an invasion of privacy and could be used to intimidate people wanting to report adverse effects.
Suncor has been contacted by the MECP. Suncor also responded to an email sent directly by WCO and said they will review and revise the form.
The letter from the MECP:

I had forwarded you concerns on to the London Office of the Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks. They in turn reached out to Suncor to follow up.

Based on your concerns I believe Suncor has made changes to the wording of their questionnaire and shared that with you.

Thank you

Wind turbines need to stop due to documented, ongoing, and cumulative health harm from infra sound.
    Please see the following talk,
September 12, 2019. University of Waterloo.

Despite repeated attempts to contact government, no one has responded to my requests for a meeting with Government.
I note that WCO had meetings with government officials in the past. In addition, recently (Jan and Feb of this year) [redacted] had two meetings with government officials and has communicated with WCO about this. As far as I know, infra sound was not discussed at any of these meetings. Why is that?

      Dear WCO,
You redacted both the name and professional status of the person I mentioned. They are a P. Eng., and they have been writing and researching about Industrial wind turbines for a long time. At one time (Nov 14, 2017) I worked with this individual measuring an infra sound they provided to me.
      Sincerely,
      Richard Mann

        Correction:
(Nov 14, 2017) I worked with this individual *measuring* an infra sound recorder provided to me.
That is, I did measurements to validate system response down to 0.125 Hz.
        Richard

Addressing this form of profiling is crucial.
Will someone address the way in which agents within both the Liberal and the Conservative governments(Ministries of Health and Environment)Some of these agents were not replaced when the Liberal government was decimated and may have profiled the people who have sent many written reports of harm in the hope that these agents would protect them when calling the SPILL hotline proved to be a process that did not result in protection from audible noise and acoustic pulsations/infrasound radiation?

Readers here might appreciate reading this article published in Politico about how people in France are uniting to stop industrial scale wind turbines everywhere. There’s opposition from all angles working TOGETHER.

Because they ‘believe’ it has taken place, doesn’t mean it has. Confirmation is needed. Also, an apology from Suncor to those named/reported for profiling is highly appropriate.
